Cochrane Minor Basketball (CoMBA) Parent Code of Conduct Agreement

Governing Code of Conduct for all parents and spectators.

 

Mission Statement

CoMBA provides basketball opportunities for youth in and around Cochrane that is accessible, positive, fair and safe.  CoMBA will also provide leadership, promoting the values of teamwork, integrity and commitment, while developing skills at all levels of competition and lifelong love of the game.

 

Understanding and Abiding by the Rules is Your Responsibility

The rules of basketball should be regarded as mutual agreements, the spirit of which no one should try to evade or break.  They exist for safety, proper order, and enjoyment of the game for all involved.  All Policies and Rules must be abided and observed within the spirit of CoMBA Mission Statement and Sportsmanship of the game.

 

Respect Referees, Minor Officials, White Whistles, Coaches and Spectators

All officials play and integral part of the game.  They must be regarded as honest in intentions.  There is to be no prompting (verbal or otherwise) of the officials to make calls.  Decisions of the officials must be accepted with good grace.  Failure to do so may result in your removal from the gym.  It may also result in subsequent suspension and further disciplinary action by the board.

 

Respect the Rights, Dignity, and Worth of Every Person

All persons connected with basketball are entitled to equal treatment, respect and opportunity.

 

Respect the Facilities and Equipment Provided

Abuse of the facilities results in the lass of the gym and disciplinary action will be taken by the board.

Guests of any player, coach, official or spectator are the responsibility of that person and must abide by the same code of conduct.

 

Parents and their guests will:

 

  • Volunteer or pay the equivalent fees
  • Set a good example of sportsmanship for all children in the gym
  • Help make participation in CoMBA a positive experience for your child, coaches and others.
  • Applaud good plays by both teams
  • Parents who participate in online interactions (Social Media Platforms) are subject to the same behavior standards as listed in the participation agreement.  All video and photos will have the written permission by the individuals before sharing.  The gyms and spaces the activities take place in are private events.
  • Parents are responsible for the behavior and actions of their friends and family members they invite to the gymnasium and disciplinary action for those individuals will be directed towards the member of CoMBA.

 

Parents failing to abide by the CoMBA Participation Agreement will be subject to disciplinary action.
