KODIAKS COMMUNITY BASKETBALL MISSION
The mission of the Kodiaks program is to organize and implement a comprehensive community based Fall/Winter/Spring basketball program which instills a life-long passion for basketball. The Kodiaks program promotes a balance of player participation, player skill development and developing competitiveness in our players while ensuring a safe, supportive, equal opportunity, and positive atmosphere. Kodiaks programs are open to all genders, who range in age from 9 to 17 years and live in the Northwest Municipal District of Rocky View or the Town of Cochrane.
KODIAKS GOALS
Participation
Promote participation of Cochrane area youth in our basketball programs with the belief that active children will be healthier and happier children. The Kodiaks program strives to be accessible to all Cochrane and area youth between the ages of 8 and 17 years. By remaining a volunteer based organization the Kodiaks program is able to keep costs down in order to provide our area youth more accessibility to participate.
Development
Teach and develop basketball skills and playing strategies to our players to promote their enjoyment of the game and to assist in their advancement to the next playing level.
Model and teach good sportsmanship and fair play, respect for others, team commitment and player commitment to learning and playing the game of basketball.
Foster an effective, supportive and progressive environment in which all players and coaches can aspire to achieve their potential.
Competition
Provide a valuable opportunity by having our teams participate in the Calgary Minor Basketball Association to encourage competitiveness in our players while at the same time emphasizing that good sportsmanship is also a priority.
